A morphologically distinct strain of Aspergillus nomius
نویسنده
چکیده
DNA polymorphisms were used to infer relationships of a morphologically distinct new strain of aflatoxin-producing Aspergillus to other members of Aspergillus sect. Flavi. The new strain produced both Band G aflatoxins, and differed both morphologically and physiologically from other aflatoxin producers. Three isolates of the new fungus were compared with representatives of three known aflatoxinproducing species, Regions of the Taka-amylase A, 13tubulin, calmodulin, and nitrate reductase genes were amplified using PCR and digested with restriction enzymes. Restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis of all four gene regions indicated that the new Aspergillus isolates are closely related to A. nomius, but are diverged from other' aflatoxin-producing species.

Inhibition of mycotoxin-producing Aspergillus nomius vsc 23 by lactic acid bacteria and Saccharomyces cerevisiae
The effect of different fermenting microorganisms on growth of a mycotoxin- producing Aspergillus nomius was assayed. Two lactic acid bacteria, Lactobacillus fermentum and Lactobacillus rhamnosus, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae, all of which are widely used in fermentation and preservation of food, were assayed on their fungus inhibitory properties. Assays were carried out by simultaneous inocula...
متن کاملUse of nuclear DNA restriction fragment length polymorphisms to analyze the diversity of the Aspergillus flavus group: A. flavus, A. parasiticus, and A. nomius.
Recombinant DNA clones carrying high-copy or low-copy sequences from Aspergillus nidulans and Neurospora crassa were used to identify restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs) diagnostic for members of the A. flavus group: A. flavus, A. parasiticus, and A. nomius. These fungi were resolved into three distinct categories when they were grouped according to RFLP patterns. Subgroups within...
متن کاملSexual reproduction in aflatoxin-producing Aspergillus nomius.
Sexual reproduction was examined in the aflatoxin-producing fungus Aspergillus nomius. Crosses between sexually compatible strains resulted in the formation of multiple nonostiolate ascocarps within stromata, which places the teleomorph in genus Petromyces. Ascocarp and ascospore morphology in Petromyces nomius were similar to that in P. flavus and P. parasiticus, and differences between teleom...
متن کاملIdentification of Aspergillus nomius in Bees Visiting Brazil Nut Flowers
We designed a primer pair (BtubNomF/BtubNomR) specifically for amplifying Aspergillus nomius DNA. In vitro assays confirmed BtubNomF/BtubNomR specificity, corroborating its usefulness in detecting and identifying A. nomius. We then investigated the occurrence of A. nomius in floral visitors of Bertholletia excelsa trees by means of PCR, and A. nomius was detected in the following bees: Xylocopa...
متن کاملAflatoxin-producing Aspergillus species from Thailand.
Aflatoxin-producing Aspergillus species were isolated from soil samples from ten different regions within Thailand. Aspergillus flavus was present in all of the soil samples. Unlike previous studies, we found no A. parasiticus or A. flavus capable of both B- and G-type aflatoxin production in any of the samples. A. pseudotamarii, which had not been previously reported from Thailand, was found i...
